Data entry: compared
Entering, updating, or cleaning information in spreadsheets, databases, or web systems for an employer or client.
Red flags & the common scam version
Data-entry 'jobs' are one of the most impersonated. Never pay a fee, buy software, or send money for a 'starter kit', 'list of companies', or 'certification'. Legitimate data entry pays a normal wage and never asks you to pay first.
The universal rule: a legitimate job or client pays you. Never pay an upfront fee, buy a "starter kit", or deposit a check and send money back. See our reality check on "fast money" offers and how we screen for scams.
